Over its 260+ years, the property has evolved through restorations and reinventions, yet remains true to the vision of its original founders, Mr. and Mrs. Marchal, who set a standard for excellence that continues to resonate today.

Sustainability

Marchal, the hotel’s Michelin-starred culinary destination, continues to set the benchmark for fine dining in Copenhagen. What We Love

Hotel d’Angleterre is at the forefront of sustainable luxury in Denmark. The property utilizes district cooling from Copenhagen Energy’s central system, ensuring energy-efficient temperature control. Triple-glazed windows and a newly engineered roof have markedly improved the building’s insulation and reduced overall energy consumption.

Sun-responsive automatic canopies minimize the need for artificial cooling, further enhancing energy savings. In the kitchens, state-of-the-art bio tanks process over 4,500 liters of organic waste monthly, converting it into biogas and lowering the hotel’s annual carbon footprint by 11 metric tons—equivalent to 26.5 kilowatt-hours of energy.

Throughout the hotel, LED lighting is standard, and motion sensors automatically reduce electricity use in guest corridors and staff areas. These initiatives reflect d’Angleterre’s ongoing commitment to responsible hospitality and environmental stewardship.
